If you’ve made the decision to move forward with Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP), congratulations — you’re about to take a confident step toward a fresh new look. At SMP Noosa, we want to ensure that you get the very best result possible from your treatment. And that all begins with preparation.
At SMP Noosa, your treatment will take place in a private, modern, architecturally designed studio nestled in peaceful Doonan — perfectly situated between Noosaville and Eumundi. Surrounded by two acres of lush greenery, this quiet and serene setting offers a relaxed yet professional environment where you can feel completely at ease.
We’ve designed our studio with privacy and comfort in mind. There’s plenty of parking on site, and our one-on-one sessions ensure discretion and personalised care every step of the way.
Proper scalp preparation is one of the most important steps in achieving a flawless SMP result. Whether you’re looking to restore a receding hairline, camouflage thinning areas, or add density, the condition of your scalp plays a vital role in how well the pigment settles and heals.
Here’s how you can get your scalp in the best shape possible before your first session at SMP Noosa:
If you experience flaky skin, dryness, or dandruff, now is the time to treat it. Use a gentle dandruff shampoo (preferably one with ingredients like ketoconazole or zinc pyrithione) for a few days leading up to your appointment. This will help eliminate build-up and prevent irritation during the procedure.
Light exfoliation removes dead skin cells and dry patches that could otherwise interfere with the application of pigment. You can gently exfoliate the scalp with a soft brush or use a mild exfoliating scrub designed for sensitive skin. Do this at least a day or two before your session.
A well-hydrated scalp allows for better pigment retention and a smoother application. Apply a fragrance-free moisturiser regularly in the days before your session, especially after cleansing or exfoliating. Avoid moisturising on the day of your treatment, but do so if the scalp is feeling overly dry.
If you wear your hair very short or shaved or are going to it’s best to trim it down using a zero-overlap clipper, a Pitbull type head shaver, or a clean razor — the day before your session. Doing it on the same day can lead to tiny leftover hairs, irritated skin, or razor burn, which may affect the comfort and cleanliness of the procedure.
Once shaved or clipped, gently cleanse your scalp, rinse thoroughly, and moisturise afterward. This sets the perfect canvas for the pigment to be applied smoothly and consistently.
• Stay well hydrated and avoid alcohol the day before.
• Get a good night’s sleep.
• Arrive with a clean scalp — free from oils, styling products, or residue.
• Avoid sunburn or excessive sun exposure in the days leading up to your appointment.
When your scalp is clean, healthy, and properly prepped, it allows for:
• Sharper, more defined pigment dots
• Better healing and reduced irritation
• Longer-lasting results
• A more natural-looking outcome
This is your canvas — and preparing it well is the first step to achieving results you’ll love.
